Jan 1, evening, outdoors size:   open
tek:
There will be an Altar of Intention set up throughout the event as the sacred space for participants to quietly focus on their intentions for the new year, as well as a place to gather everyone's energy from the event.

The Tree of Release will be set up alongside the altar, so that people can meditate on their intentions, and then write out their releases and hang them on the tree.

On the evening of the 1st, there will be an open drumming & firespinning intro ceremony, perhaps some spoken word (anyone inspired?), then we will have a small solemn burn where we will burn the Tree of Release. If people wish to contribute, please be in contact during Intention and listen for announcements.

Digging the Dark with:   Brian Mackenzie & Kenn Quayle

  Dec 28, 8-10p, Healing Room size:   20-40
tek:
Digging the Dark: the alchemy of consciousness transformation

Participants collaborate to create healing Art as Ritual/Meditation starting from their individual High Dreams, we move on to share Low Dreams: Bad Trips, Dystopian Visions and Apocalyptic Nightmares. Following the dreaming process through the Via Negativa we arrive at the Cosmic Void, the no-thing-ness, the womb which births every thing.

Participants will be encouraged to sift through and sort individual life experiences, daring to look at dark corners of pain and hurt, and through intentional community psycho-emotional gardening process, compost our muck into valuable fertilizer for our beautiful flowers and butterflies. Alchemy invites a process of entering the darkest, densest aspects of our earthly (separate, egocentric) experience in order to access the Prima Materia, the "lead" which becomes the "gold" of our (unified, collective) community values manifested.

We will draw on the history and experiences of various paths such as First Nations, Creation Spirituality, Reclaiming Collective, and Dreambody Work (Process Oriented Psychology) to create conscious community healing through ritual, storytelling and creative expression. Beginning with the Dream of "enlightened holistic community" we share our actual experiences, including fears and doubts (such as encountered during altered states, or in trying to be true to ourselves while developing relationships). Integration, reconciliation, recapitulation leads through meditation to the Metacosmic Void which is the womb wherein the collective dream seed is planted.

Bring: any art supplies, costumes etc. that can be incorporated as participants desire. Bring or be prepared to create representations of High and Low Dreams in any media you wish (including movement, song, story or waddeva).
bio:
Brian and Kenn have over 23 years of combined experience in community building and peer education. This includes training in counselling, conflict resolution, harm reduction, and process work.

Electronic Dance Music Ceremony with:   Robin Sylvan

Dec 30, 6-7p, Rec Hall size:   open
tek:
Using sacred intentionality, ritual practices, and specific movements/gestures/formations, we will attempt to focus and direct the energy of the dance floor experience in a ceremonial context in a specially designed sequence. The goal is to trace the arc of a ceremony – creating a sacred container, generating energy, and dedicating that energy – through trance dancing to electronic dance music, so that the ceremony, like the dance floor experience itself, is danced/embodied/enacted rather than spoken.
bio:
Robin Sylvan, Ph.D., is the founder and director of The Sacred Center, a spiritually-oriented San Francisco Bay Area nonprofit educational organization, and author of Traces of the Spirit: The Religious Dimensions of Popular Music. He has been an electronic dance music enthusiast since 1996.

Ethical Hunting - A Spiritual Experience with:   Jennifer Kesic

Dec 30, 11-noon, Classroom Alpha size:   open

This workshop could be called "The Hunter and the Hippy" ?!!!

The importance of providing food which is clear of today's multi-faceted tainting tactics brings a story-telling journey of a first-time hunting experience. Getting back to the the roots of spiritually connecting with the land, her animals and ourselves is part of the wonderful journey through life and her faithful partner - death. My goal in this workshop is to educate in hopes of dissolving stereotypes that we all may struggle with. Afterwards - a disscussion on the ethics of hunting in society today.
bio:
Recognizing that my family's livelihood has come from a business in hunting and fishing, it has become obvious to me to learn these skills for myself. It is also a calling to bond through experience and better understand the depths of who we are, father and daughter - seemingly worlds apart...

PsychoActivism: Common Myths behind Laws & Rights with:   Aurora & Knigel

Dec 31, 11-noon, Classroom Beta size:   open
tek:
In this workshop we hope to raise awareness of the current laws pertaining to psychedelics and consciousness, to myth-bust and stop the spreading of dangerous memes which are commonly spread throughout our culture, to explain the various rights we have when dealing with law enforcement, to explore the roots and reasons of the laws and their consequences. It is important to know the rights we have as individuals for our own safety, for in many cases these rights only come into place when we understand them and stand up in their defense. We hope to aid understanding of the issues of psychedelic politics and inspire people to learn how to take an activist stance, rather than being a passive user.
bio:
We are working on a website called PsychoAction.org, (which at the moment is currently based on its forums) which one of the focuses is on Psychedelic activism and the law. We have been doing lots of research on the laws as they are in Canada (and abroad) as well as the many myths that surround interaction with the police. We've talked to many friends and people and found that the majority have no idea of their rights, and so if put in a situation where they have to deal with the police their lack of awareness can easily be taken advantage of. We also work at the Urban Shaman raising awareness of intentional psychedelic use and responsibility.
