Claymation is an art form that, in its simplest sense, is a series of stop motion photographs put together to make a short film. Sequencing these photographs at the rate of 4 to 5 per second gives the appearance of movement, and within this movement a story can be told.
The intention of this workshop is to provide a safe space for participants to explore creative collaboration while producing media messages and visuals that celebrate our tribal culture and promote positive social change.

I am passionate about using the arts as a medium for community development and social change. I have been facilitating filmmaking and claymation workshops for the past three years with youth and adults along the west coast of Britisch Columbia.
My current project, Reel Youth, involves doing this workshop with youth in India and bringing the films back to BC and showing them during a series of 50 workshops with youth in Vancouver. studied with Peter Bingham and Edam Dance for the past 6 years.
Recently he apprenticed with Peter's company in the remount of his piece
"Born Naked, Died Blond" His love for dance has brought him to
contact jams around the world and to hosting classes at festivals and
raves. Jacob most recent dance performance was with Martha
Carter's IDUB (Interactive Digital Urban Ballet) where his skills
as a Beat Boxer, DJ, Producer, Rapper and Dancer where all showcased
in this interdisciplinary multi dance style piece. Jacob also
performed in Martha Carters February 2005 piece the spell remains, which is
exploration of club music with modern influences.

Nikki Anderson is a 27 year-old artist from Santa Cruz, CA. In the last year she has helped start a local non-profit called MOVE (Making Our Voices Empowered) moveyoutharts.org
This program is an alternative art education program where Nikki teaches foundational art techniques, mural design, wilderness education, yoga, and nutrition classes. She has been teaching these arts to youth at alternative education schools, juvenile hall, group homes, and at a community center in downtown Santa Cruz. She has been oil painting since the age of eight and continues to explore and express through painting, drawing and new mediums like metal arts, ceramics and printmaking. Nikki has a B.A. in Fine Arts from UCSC with a focus in painting and drawing. She was honored as a California Art Scholar and continues to have art shows, teach, and take classes to deepen her work in the arts. Nikki has enjoyed performance painting with Sound Tribe Sector 9, TranceZenDance and with various artists at Earthdance for the last three years.

Jessica and Chloe (along with some other creative folk known as the Puppet Tuesday Collective) debuted their shadow puppetry at Recon 2003. Since then, they have performed numerous puppet shows on the Sunshine Coast and in Vancouver. They also have given many workshops,including a bi-monthly ShadowJam that happens in Roberts Creek. They are part of Mythmaker, and most recently created a shadow show called the "Dream of a Tree" as part of the "Galactic Fairy Tale". In the future, expect to see this creative duo performing as "Mind of a Snail Puppet Co." at upcoming festivals and gatherings.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) offers practical communication tools that develop/transform our abilities to connect within ourselves and with others. Through establishing a certain quality of connection that is marked by natural compassion, NVC trusts that in this magical space everyone's needs can be met. NVC is a valuable tool for developing self-connection, authentic _expression, interpersonal communication, compassion, relationships, conflict resolution, and spirituality.
NVC has been incredibly valuable for both of our paths of personal development. Four months ago, we co-created an intermediate level process and practise group that is still ongoing. It is our hope and inspiration that NVC will not only be of use to individuals within the community, but it could also greatly contribute to the evolution of the Tribal Harmonix community itself. In the new year, we are interested in offering a cumulative series of introductory NVC workgroup sessions in Vancouver (a signup sheet for those interested will be at the Intention workshop).
Our workshop at Intention will use experiential exercises that are intended to help participants get a concrete & personal learning experience. There is no enrolment limitation, but we do request that participants be willing to engage in some reflective personal work in a co-created space of safety and sacredness.
Please bring a pen and something to write on for the exercises that we will be doing.

Brad: Life is most precious to me when I am self-connected, expressive from this place, and connected to the beauty of others. I aspire to keep myself in this space, to grow, to play, and to help others shine brighter. I am currently earning a masters degree in counselling psychology so that I can realize my dreams and get paid for it. If you don't know me in person, you will probably have seen me on the dance floor.
Alper: I have been involved with NVC for almost 3 years now. I feel deeply touched by this teaching as I see that it offers practical tools to find loving connections within myself and with others. I truly feel that this is a tool that can help us to create the world we all want. Communication from the heart is the key.

The concept of intention is one of the key concepts that unite the neotribal dance community. It has personal, interpersonal, ecological, local and global political connotations. Rather than connoting for us the place of a moral law, the concept of intention gives to our collective consciousness the sphere of a possible ethics, an ethos of individual and collective consciousness. To live with intention is to live in and for the fluctuations, the ascendency of awareness. I would like to provide a forum for individual and collective dialogue on the various senses of "intention", contributing to the Council of Intention, while introducing some basic conceptions of intentionality from useful philosophical discourses, especially phenomenology.

Community is sharing, the cocreation and coparticipation, of the world. The whole of nature, in all its eternity, creativity, truthfulness, is one with the emergent community of the world. We can all experience something of the world-community in the time of the festival, where not the separation and division, but the unity and unification of human time and cosmic time prevails. But what about the world outside the festival? Marx once wrote, in relation to the urban landscape of the present day, that a "spectre was haunting Europe, the spectre of communism." How can we, in our local and global community networks, turn the spectre of communion into the spirit of communism? What is the communal spirit?
I would like to open dialogue concerning the forms of spiritual community that we presently experience both inside and outside the festival, and to introduce some new and old conceptions of the communal spirit. The living body is dynamic, simultaneously individual and transindividual. How should we attempt to experience the mind-body relation as well as the ecology of bodies in order to constellate the new intentional community of the body-politics of the future?
By interweaving and collectively exploring intentionality, community, and body, the workshop hopes to be able to consolidate shared vision and network shamanic potentialities.

And give voice to the Earth's music
Is a Shared Experience of Communion.
This is a spiritual practice based on hiking and singing. We will walk into the forest, allowing ourselves to feel-- Allowing our voices to open up to the land and to one another. This can be whatever music comes to us, like singing in the shower. It can be spontaneous, mystical, joyous, sad, rhythmic or tonal. There is no need for a certain kind of voice, and no need to know any specific songs. Can we develop a trust and intimacy with one another, and with the land?

JP Mercury used to sing as a kid.
Then he became a closeted adolescent, and, like many of us, repressed his inner wisdom. An illness came, and the illness brought him back home. During a pilgrimage thru the Himalayas in the year 2000, Mercury began to sing again. He continues to sing into Nature and has found much healing thru it. And So, I would like to share this simple practice with You.

Inspired by scenes of Laughter Yoga in the movie "Gambling, Gods & LSD", I researched the phenomenon online and attempted my first laughter yoga experiment on a few willing participants at Intention 4 in 2002. Inspired by what we discovered, the following April, I took Dr. Madan Kataria's 2 day course and obtained my certificate as a Laughter Yoga Leader. I've led a few sessions since then, mostly at Intention and Recompression, with ever-increasing success and participation. I am really looking forward to this year's Intention and to the pleasure of laughing with you! There are several laughter clubs in the Lower Mainland, refer to http://www.laughteryoga.ca
