=EarthDance=
For a decade Earthdance has occurred worldwide usually around Sept.16 as a global dance for peace raising funds for causes including the environment, children, bringing a culture of peace, and supporting the cultural survival of indigenous peoples. Each year it grows and spreads to new locations. In the Lower Mainland there has been community support in making an event happen since 1998. It has taken place at the Aboriginal Friendship Center, the Malcolm Bowl in Stanley Park, The Armories, Church of Pointless Hysteria & Ceperly Park by 2nd Beach in Stanley Park. It has also happened two times on the Sunshine Coast at the Roberts Creek Hall.
Earthdance Vancouver has supported causes like the Tadra Project (helping impoverished children), the homeless squatters of the Woodworth Building, Pedal Power Alternative Energy, youth empowerment projects- Momentum Youth Project & The Purple Thistle, and Our Elders Speak Wisdom Council ( a First Nations organization).
A highlight of each years Earthdance is the Prayer for Peace which occurs as a simultaneous link up of dancefloors across the world attuning to the intention of sending out peace to the world. In Vancouver we follow this with a gigantic spiral dance that raises the prayerfield even higher.
Typically Earthdance Vancouver is spread out over the weekend to include a pre-party, an after party on the day of the event, and a post event which has included things like film screening, council, and Psyonic Yoga.
